Writer: I was fascinated by lekshmi Gopinathan way of portraying different characters and never let go hold of any of them.  The proficiency by which the writer takes the story forward is remarkable. The chapter wise presentation of book based on 2 lead character makes reading easy and enjoyable. As we move forward with the story the manner in which the pasts of character unfold is intriguing and finally they converge in the end. The character and story are standalone genius but what makes it a marvel is the inception of food and recipe and becomes the backbone of the story.

Story: The protagonists radhamma and matilda who are heart broken and find a way to mend their soul by food and their sole love emvibed in cooking. Being an avid foodie, I was blown away by both conventional south indian delicacy and unconventional English dishes. At times I was so engulfed that I started smelling food. The men around radhamma and matilda just compliment them. Radhamma is on a quest to revive the life of the villagers of irralipatinam by social and economic reforms education and employment. While may is ridden by loss of her mother and she goes on a bike quest to rediscover her zeal of living and lost happiness. The men in may’s life just pave their way across her journey. The story is based at a fishing village with ideal villagers who are self-motivated to bring a change under Radhamma. The book is like a breath of fresh air a good story and some amazing recipe to offer. Worth reading and it will result in an empty stomach.
