Writer: Devraj singh kalsi is one man who as exemplary skills of depicting emotions and his portrayal of character is unmatchable. His has beautifully described all the three leading ladies struck by loss of the only man of the house. Devraj has excellently woven this intricate tale based on relationship loss and individuality. His narration of a Sikh family settled outside Punjab and in a Bengali majority is unbelievable. What moved me more was Devraj’s skill as a writer as he had beautifully built up the characters for an eventful end.

Book: The protagonists Biji, nasib and preet face the loss of the only man in their life. Someone lost a son, a husband and later a father. Every individual has their own ego to battel with and as usual differences among them. The equation between BIji and nasib is tumultuous and the battel ahead lies for the supremacy for the families’ responsibility. Preet is an ambitious girl stuck in a yes-no relationship and amidst the catastrophe of losing her dad she has a responsibility of balancing things between her grandma and her mother. The story takes us through a Sikh funeral customs and rituals and the difference of opinion among character can easily be seen. As the story proceeds preet comes to realize and know some facts about her dad which are both unsettling and disturbing. Her dad was a well-known business man and was respected in the city for his far sightedness. As the story grows the protagonists Biji, nasib and preet come in terms with each other and they stand together to save their business empire and families dignity. The book is well written and inspite of it being about loss it had humor well intact and makes us smile. The generation gap in character is beautifully described and the complexity of emotion is human character is well fetched.
